TrackMaven has recently discovered a bad habit among content publishers. A lot of marketers are publishing content at the wrong time, giving lesser visibility. Content plays a major role in online marketing and these marketers can’t simply overlook this mistake. To get it all right, here is the data from the study showing the wrong times people are posting and what time they should post.

Publishing times

In the study, people publish posts on weekdays at 9-5PM. This is when people are working in the office. And even those who don’t work in a regular office end up working at those times. The problem is, it is also when people are not in their most active state, decreasing the chances of reading your new article.

Social sharing habits

It was found that 4-6AM and 7-11PM are the times when most people are active and sharing content. This is why many content publishers are doing it wrong. From this data, marketers should realize that they are publishing content when people aren’t active and looking for it. Consequently, there are fewer shares or none at all because of the little number of people who can see it when it comes out. It signals a big fallback to engagement.

Another fact presented is that publishers post only 5% of their content in the weekend. However, most people are active on Saturday and Sunday doing more social sharing  and video content sharing than on weekdays. Then again, it is not a good idea to publish only on weekdays.

The study is an overall view of the habits of users in the digital marketing industry. This data is a big impact to the effectiveness of your marketing strategy and gives you a clear idea on how you should manage your content. Identifying the most active times of your audience will help improve engagement and content sharing. More so, it will bring in more potential customers and buyers.
