Verizon Communications has just completed its purchase of AOL for a total of $4.4 billion. Being an odd digital matchup, this has brought out big news in the internet ad network platform.

No one could have imagined the combination of a mobile phone provider and an owner of popular content sites like TechCrunch, Engadget and Huffington Post. It sounds like a desperate move to expanding the business. However, if you look deeper into their vision, the decision points to advertising.

A Big Player in Ad technology

Aol has proven its effective strategies in advertising. There is no doubt how Aol has played successfully in the field of advertising technologies and services, which they kept under the AOL Platforms brand.

Among its list of leading players are ADTECH, integrated ad serving solutions for online ad campaigns, One by Aol, automated end-to-end platform for purchasing ads across different media, Pictela, a platform for high-definition global content marketing, and Advertising.com, a giant ad network.

Looking at Verizon’s decision again, a fine list of Aol’s lines of business shows the potential future of the mobile phone provider. Verizon will now add at least ten of Aol’s ad businesses into its Digital Media Services division. Expect a bigger and better change for this tech giant.
